Dallas County Commission has an opening for a Laborer in the Road Department.

Work schedule is Monday–Thursday – 10 hour days.

Applicants must have a valid State of Alabama Driver’s License. Persons in this position will perform manual labor which may include the following duties: shovel asphalt from dump truck, spread asphalt with rake, sweep road, spray tar and spread cement, clear ditches and beaver dams, install pipes, dig trenches and patch holes. May operate chain saw, tractors, sheep footer and tire rollers. Other duties will include those assigned by supervisor.

Successful applicant must have physical dexterity to operate various pieces of equipment and physical tolerance to work outside, sometimes under adverse conditions. Must be able to lift over 50 pounds and have agility to crouch or crawl in restricted places, at times.

Applicant must have the ability to work well with others. Applications will be taken from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM, beginning August 27, 2021, at the Human Resources Department in the Courthouse Annex, 102 Church Street, Selma, AL, or online at www.dallascounty-al.org.

Pre-employment drug testing will be rquired and, if employed, employee will be subject to random drug testing.
