Maintenance Worker

Dallas County Commission is seeking candidates for the position of Maintenance Worker at Jim Minor Garden Homes.  The Maintenance Worker ensures that all systems within the apartment complex are functioning optimally and that the property environment is safe and comfortable for its residents.  Responsibilities include performing preventive and routine maintenance on interior and exterior of all units, responding to maintenance requests and resolving issues in a timely and efficient manner, using various power and non-power tools to repair machines, equipment, or structures, and ensuring that all maintenance work complies with relevant regulations and standards.

Successful applicant must possess knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods, occupational hazards, and safety procedures of the trade.  Must be skilled in the use of powered and non-powered tools and equipment, with the ability to perform tasks requiring moderately heavy manual work.  Strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary when assisting tenants and scheduling certified professionals to handle complex issues.

High School Diploma or GED Certificate required.  Must possess a valid Alabama Driver’s license and be insurable by the County insurance carrier.
