Civil Clerk
Dallas County Sheriff’s Department has an opening for a Civil Clerk.
Under the direction of the Office Manager, the employee assists the public and other agencies. Job duties include processing civil papers and arrest and incident offense reports; processing pistol permits and warrants; completing requisition forms for inmates who have received medical attention or medication; transcribing interview tapes and performing a variety of general clerical duties.
The position also requires that the applicant be proficient in the operation of several computer programs including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel.

Equipment Operator
Dallas County Commission has an opening for a Full-Time Equipment Operator.
The Equipment Operator will operate various types of equipment to maintain, repair, and pave county roads and bridges. Equipment types include, but are not limited to, a tractor/bushhog, rotary side cutter, compactor, power broom, back-hoe, self-propelled tire roller and steel wheel roller, bulldozer, front-end loader, low-boy trailer, excavator, and motor grader. It is not necessary to have experience operating all of these types of equipment. Salary will be based on experience and skill level.

Applicant must be aware of safety rules involved in the operation of equipment on heavily traveled roads.

Applicant must possess the ability to read and write and to understand road maps.

Under the direction of the Warden, the employee performs routine medical tasks such as dispensing medication. Medical Officer attends medical rounds with the physician and assists with transportation of inmates to and from medical appointments as necessary. Medical Officer also determines when inmates need to see a physician. Medical Officer must have an up-to-date AL license as an LPN or RN.

Real Property Appraiser
Dallas County is currently seeking a full-time Real Property Appraiser. Job duties include performing field appraisals, locating and measuring improvements constructed on various parcels located in the county, using the collected data to establish property values, and providing the property owner with an explanation of the valuation process.
Qualifications: Some appraisal experience preferred. Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, accounting, taxation law, or a related field. An Associate’s Degree and three years experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree. Must possess a valid Alabama driver’s license with a good driving record and be insurable. Must be able to travel and to work overtime, if required. Must have the ability to become certified within a specific period of time as an Alabama Certified Appraiser (Real Property Tract) through the State Property Tax Education and Certification Program. Must be able to attend and successfully complete continuing education courses offered through the Property Tax Education Program.

The Dallas County Commission is currently seeking a full-time custodian.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicant must be able to perform general cleaning and custodial work to ensure assigned buildings are properly cleaned and maintained within acceptable standards.
Applicant must be knowledgeable of the materials and practices essential to the cleaning of buildings and possess knowledge of the use and care of dry vacuum cleaners, mop wringers, mops, brushes, and cleaning solutions. Must have ability to read and write. Ability to interact effectively with others and cooperatively with County employees and public. Must be able to bend, stoop, push, pull or carry objects up to 50 pounds unassisted.
Kind of Work
Employee will perform custodial activities for the assigned buildings. Duties will include:
Restrooms – Clean and sanitize restrooms, refilling soap, paper towel and toilet tissue dispensers as needed.
Breakrooms – Sanitize counter/table top and sinks; Elevators – Clean all interior and exterior surfaces;
Public Areas and Hallways: Empty all waste receptacles and keep area clean; Sanitize and polish drinking fountains; Clean all glass doors;
Outside Porch/Entryways and Sidewalks: Sweep steps, alleyways, and entrances around assigned buildings. All other duties as assigned.

Laborer
Dallas County Commission has an opening for a Laborer in the Road Department. Work schedule is Monday-Thursday- 10 hour days.
Applicants must have a valid State of Alabama Driver’s License. Persons in this position will perform manual labor which may include the following duties: shovel asphalt from dump truck, spread asphalt with rake, sweep road, spray tar and spread cement, clear ditches and beaver dams, install pipes, dig trenches and patch holes. May operate chain saw, tractors, sheep footer and tire rollers. Other duties will include those assigned by supervisor.
Successful applicant must have physical dexterity to operate various pieces of equipment and physical tolerance to work outside, sometimes under adverse conditions. Must be able to lift over 50 pounds and have agility to crouch or crawl in restricted places, at times.

Position Summary
Under the direction of the Juvenile Detention Director, the Detention Counselor will direct the activities of detained youth in all areas. The Counselor will maintain the safety of detainees at all times, conduct regular check of detainees and maintain order in facility. Serve meals, supervise youth during visiting hours and may transport detainees to various appointments. Performs various housekeeping duties or supervise detainees in this function. Detention Counselor must have a high school diploma or GED equivalency and be able to work flexible hours and be on call on a rotating basis. Detention Counselor must also have a good temperament and ability to function well in stressful situations.
